    Llangefni Rugby Field, Llangefni, Anglesey.

Gwynedd Bowmen invites you to join us once again for our 6th outdoor Anglesey American competition. Look for the forecast, and come prepared..........but the sun always shines on Anglesey, so get the date in your diary and submit your entry form early to avoid disappointment.

We look forward to seeing familiar faces who've enjoyed the shoot before, but also hope to see some new faces participating in archery in North Wales.

Please follow this link to see full details, and an entry form.

It is hoped to hold club competitions over the outdoor season on the first Sunday of each month at the rugby field in Llangefni. Please inform Dick Salisbury if you are interested.

  • Dates to note over the Christmas period [14/12/05]
Please note that Monday 18th December will be the final club evening of 2005. This will be followed by a break of two weeks, so the first club night of 2006 will be on Monday 9th January.

As it falls during the break period, the shoot at Amlwch Leisure Centre listed in the diary on Saturday 7th January has been cancelled. If possible, it may be rearranged for the following weekend, so watch this space.

Finally, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

  • Change of date - November Amlwch shoot [28/10/05]
Please note that the November Amlwch shoot, previously advertised for Saturday 5th November, has now changed date for a fortnight later.
The new date is Saturday 19th November. If you bump into anyone else you know from the club, please pass this info on to avoid anyone standing around in the car park on the 5th, wondering where everyone is!!

  • Club night and GNAS fees [04/09/05]
You will all have probably received Val's conventional posting by now, reminding you that the forthcoming year's GNAS fees are due by the end of September. That is £40 for Adult/OAP and £15 for Junior respectively.
Please note that the snail-mailed prompt also stated that we plan to switch back to indoor club nights at the Mona showground, starting on Monday 5th September. We hope that you enjoyed the outdoor season and will carry any improvements you've made into the indoor season for those Portsmouth and FITA 18 rounds we all love so much!!

  • Advance Notice: Excerpt from Chairman's Address at the 2006 AGM [28/08/05]
"Gwynedd Bowmen's success as a club, wealth in terms of equipment, thriving membership and healthy bank balance is enjoyed by all members but is the direct result of the hard and often unrecognised work of the minority. There has been a significant improvement in the number of volunteer workers this year, however this still only represents about 25% of the membership. Like all clubs there are those that do and those that don't and those that arrive after everything is set up and leave before it needs taking down you know who you are, so do we, let us hope that for 2006 the ratio shows a significant improvement."

  • Gwynedd Bowmen 4th Anglesey American [22/08/05]
Sunday 21st August 2005, Llangefni Rugby Club, Llangefni, Anglesey.
We're afraid to say that if you weren't there, you've missed it now! Needless to say, a great day was enjoyed by all in some quite windy shooting conditions at times. If you couldn't make it in person, here's a brief teaser to raise the interest levels for the full report and pictorial story.

"Not being blessed with our own shooting ground and resident Groundsman the 2005 Anglesey American started on Friday night with laying out the shooting field. An easy task you would think......."
  • Success for Gwynedd Bowmen in Shetland [01/08/05]
Congratulations to our archers representing Gwynedd Bowmen and the island of Anglesey for a fine showing at this year's International Island Games, being held in Shetland. Tricky conditions made it difficult for everyone, but these conditions were overcome to bring back a couple of Gold medals and almost a Bronze as well.

  • Received reports updated [20/04/05]
    As promised....better late than never...eh?!

  • Overdue reports & site update [17/04/05]
Apologies to all that I've somewhat slipped behind with turning around the outstanding reports that I've received since the last major update release. What can I say.....other than things have been rather busy. Bear with me and I'll aim to get them finished and released in the next few days!!

Also, another reminder to those of you owing the site a shoot report - you still know who you are......and so do we!!!!

  • Web site update [23/02/05]
Just a quick note to say that most sections of the website have been improved/polished/given a little touch up by some means or another, with the Gallery and Contact Us sections benefitting the most obviously with new content.
Yes.......the pictorial story of the club "On Tour" is now told, and some sketch maps, (drawn to no particular scale other than what fit on the paper I was using), will hopefully help visitors and potential new members find us along with some directions.

Looking for the positive.....I guess there is an up-side to being ill for a few days with the flu and missing a shoot, as I finally found the time from my sick-bed to do some of the updates I've been meaning to get around to!! There will be some more to come too, when I find a bit more time.

Also, another reminder to those of you owing the site a shoot report - you know who you are......and so do we!!!!

  • Deeside Western League success & Denzil's homecoming [12/12/04]

We are proud to announce that Gwynedd Bowmen have retained the Deeside Western League trophy, Denzil (pictured right). This is the second year running that Gwynedd Bowmen have won the senior recurve category. But not content with just bringing Denzil home with us again, the compound guys wanted a piece of the action and pulled their fingers out over the year to win the senior compound Deeside Western League trophy.

Congratulations and well done to all those members who've paticipated in 2004 to make this possible, and good luck for 2005!!
(Especially you up and coming juniors, because it would be nice to sweep all three Deeside Western League trophies at the 2005 NWAS AGM).
  • Gwynedd Bowmen on tour! [14/11/04]

The club is now the proud owner of a shiny new purpose built trailer, sporting the club logo and website address on either side, as you can see. This will enable much easier transportation of equipment to have a go sessions and our competitions along with a bit of advertising whilst we're there.
The trailer was aquired with the assistance of grant funding secured by the hard work of our committee so a very big thanks goes to the committee members.

As usual Gwynedd Bowmen members have already been quite active on tour, travelling to a variety of competitions. Follow the Latest Results to see how we've been getting on and/or what you've been missing out on.

  • Change of club night and venue [01/10/04]
It only feels like a few weeks ago I was putting up the message to say that "Summer's here which means we're outdoors!!", but the year's fast disappearing and the dark nights are here again.
Yes, bring the sights back in for 20 yards or 18 metres and change the note in the diary that club night is now Monday evenings at Mona Showground, Anglesey.
The evening runs from 7pm until 10pm, but there's usually a few people there slightly before 7pm to start setting up the equipment.

Just a reminder regarding the shooting fees and situation for beginners:
(For both indoor and outdoor shooting)
    Adults £2 per session
Juniors £1 per session with their own equipment
Juniors £2 per session with use of club equipment
    Couples £3 per session

  • Hello and warm wishes to absent friends [24/06/04]
Gwynedd Bowmen have recently been visited and recieved best wishes from some ex-members and friends who now live further afield than North Wales......Dave Pritchard (now in USA) and Themla Lloyd (now in France) to name two. We would like to reciprocate the warm greetings and wish all friends of Gwynedd Bowmen all the best for the future!!

  • One day in the life of Gwynedd Bowmen [Stephen Rowe - September 2003]
"The day started with a strange noise at 05:15, my alarm on a Sunday morning, switched off quickly to avoid the grief from "her indoors". Shower, shave fill the flask throw down a cup of coffee and fire up the motor leaving "Chez Nous" at 05:45 (for those of you with a modicum of interest, yes it was still dark). Shoot 3 miles down the road avoiding all manner of wildlife to collect 2 bleary eyed individuals clearly in a state of shock as their response to my cheery "good morning" was a grunt. Add two more sets of gear to the boot and set off again at 06:00................"
