Gwynedd Bowmen

For those of you resident in the North West corner of Wales, your local club is Gwynedd Bowmen which is based in Llangefni on the Isle of Anglesey. Our regular "Winter" club night is Monday when we shoot at the Mona Showground from 19:00 hrs to 22:00 hrs. In the summer months we meet and shoot outdoors on Friday evenings from 19:00 hrs until dusk at the Llangefni Rugby Club's grounds which can found at the rear of the Registry Office car park.

New members are welcomed at all ages, the age span of our current membership is between 9 and 70-something, and includes a number of "Senior Beginners".
For beginners an "Introduction to Archery" taster session is available free of charge, however in order to comply with the requirements of our insurers this must be booked in advance through the club secretary, preferably by email to secretary@gwyneddbowmen.org who will then confirm the first available date.
Everyone is of course welcome to come along to any club night to meet the members and view our facilities on a non shooting basis prior to booking a taster session. Should you wish to continue on completion of your taster session then you must book a place on the next available beginners course where you will receive a course of instruction over a six week period at a charge of £25 payable in advance. On completion of the 6 paid weeks, club and GNAS membership is mandatory if you wish to continue shooting with the club.

After the six week period, club membership becomes due which currently costs £15 for adults and £12 for juniors, plus £2 per night's shooting to cover the costs of targets etc. In addition to club fees, all archers must join the Grand National Archery Society (GNAS), which is the sport's governing body in the UK. Membership brings a number of benefits including third pary insurance covering each member whilst they are shooting. Current GNAS fees are £39 for adults and £15 for juniors, which includes membership of the Welsh Archery Association (WAA).

Whilst members are expected to purchase their own equipment after their introductory period, the use of club equipment is permitted at a nominal charge of 50p per night for a bow and/or 50p per night for arrows. As beginners take precedence at all times this is, of course, subject to availability.
